NYC Alive: Subway Lines in Motion

This tool records live subway train positions across New York City straight in your browser via the MTA's GTFS-Realtime feeds, and instead of a fading comet trail it draws each train as its actual line-number bullet (1, 6, L, A, N…) over a dark basemap — exportable as smooth video (WebM/MP4) to download. Subway feeds report which station a train is at or approaching rather than a continuous GPS track, so bullets ease straight-line between stops instead of tracing real curved rails; showing the line number keeps that honest instead of faking a precise trail.
